Introducing ASD’s New Checkout Alert™ Feature
With so much at stake, funeral home owners must remain diligent watching over their business, especially when out of the office. ASD has developed a solution that lets owners and managers know what time their staff diverted phone lines to ASD. With our new Checkout Alert™ feature, directors can receive a text message or email when their on-call status is changed or updated. This feature also allows you to see who is on-call so you always know which one of your staff is handling calls and can quickly update your information if the wrong employee is ever put on-call.
Checkout Alert will not be activated if an on-call status is changed via myASD.com or the ASD Mobile app.
To learn more or to turn on Check-Out Alert, contact us 24/7 at 800-868-9950 ext 2.

ASD’s Sensitive Save of the Week Winner
ASD has taken many steps to ensure the call clarity of our phone lines remains clear and free of static or volume issues. However, there is little way to control what problems callers may experience on their phones. For this reason, our Call Specialists are trained to read back information for accuracy and ask callers necessary follow up questions. This week our Call Specialist, Keith, answered a call from a woman who sounded very muffled. The phone line kept dropping during the call. “Faxed over the …mother passed…preneed proposal…did she get it?” Despite the missing details, Keith was able to determine the woman’s mother passed away and that she had just faxed over the prearrangement policy to the funeral home. He was then able to obtain all of the information by repeating information to the caller to confirm he had everything correct. Keith is this week’s “Sensitive Save of the Week” winner for the patience, accuracy and exceptional listening skills he exhibited during this difficult call.
ASD Issues Results of 2014 Communication Survey
ASD recently conducted a research survey to better understand the communication patterns of funeral professionals. The survey results were published in Kates Boylston Publications Funeral Director’s Guide to Statistics (2014 issue). ASD’s survey received more than 660 responses. Participants were asked to provide feedback on their funeral homes’ use of mobile technology and call forwarding. The survey also included questions about monthly expenditures, telephone patterns and interoffice communication.
