ASD Supports Organization in Mission to Help Grieving Children

ASD is proud to be a company that gives back to important causes and charitable organizations we are passionate about. Through our philanthropic efforts, sponsorship and volunteer events, the Czachor family and ASD staff have been able to spread goodwill both locally and nationwide. While every cause we support is essential and valuable, there is one organization we wanted to shine a spotlight on that is especially dear to our hearts.

The Eluna Network empowers children in distress in your community and nationwide. Founded by former Phillies pitcher, Jamie Moyer, this remarkable organization provides comprehensive online resources and personalized support for families experiencing grief or substance abuse. The Eluna Network’s mission is to provide comfort, hope and healing to children impacted by loss or addiction through its Camp Erin and Camp Mariposa programs.

Did you know one in five children 18 and under will experience the death of someone close to them? Most people don’t realize just how many young people today are impacted by grief. This is why ASD is so passionate about championing the work of the Eluna Network’s Camp Erin initiative, which runs overnight grief camps
for children who have experienced the death of a significant person in their life, such as a parent, sibling, other family member or friend.

Camp Erin combines traditional, fun, high-energy camp activities with grief education and support. It is the largest national bereavement program for youth grieving the death of a significant person in their lives with a location in Philadelphia and 44 additional cities in the United States and Canada. The camp provides bereaved children with a
welcoming and safe environment to share their feelings and to bond with other children who have lost loves ones.

This past week, the Czachor family and some of the ASD Team attended the 6th Annual Champions for Children benefit in Philadelphia. It was so impactful to hear stories about how the Eluna Network helps children and families affected by grief and addiction. We enjoyed spending time with co-founder, Karen Phelps Moyer and learning more about the Moyer Foundations’ future initiatives. It was an honor to be apart of this event and we are glad to be able to support such an important cause.

“I first learned about the Eluna Network from my sister in law who is a long-time volunteer at our local Camp Erin,” says ASD Family-Member Owner, Kathy Kelley. “After hearing her stories about all the kids this incredible program has helped, I knew I wanted ASD to partner with the Eluna Network and promote its mission anyway we can. While our family is dedicated to sponsorship initiatives, all of our employees have gotten involved in this mission through our “Exercise for a Cause” program and the annual event held at the Philadelphia Zoo. ASD employees are always moved to hear firsthand from children who speak at these events about how the counselors and fellow campers helped him cope with their grief. It is so inspiring to be connected with an organization making such a difference in the lives of children. Everyone at ASD is proud to be partnered with the Moyer Foundation.”

Team ASD supports Camp Erin through our Exercise for a Cause donation program and the annual walk/run through Philadelphia Zoo. More than 50 of our employees walkedor ran last April in the 4th Annual Care to Care to Carry On 5K, which was created to raise awareness about the importance of helping grievingkids carry on in a healthy way. We believe it is so vital to support children who are grieving and Camp Erin is truly making a difference in the lives of so many children.

It’s always so wonderful for our staff to be able to come together and enjoy some wonderful fitness activity all while giving back to such a worthwhile cause. We look forward to this annual event every year.
