Favorite Pastime: For the past 31 years, Jim has performed Irish ballads with his friend and musical partner, Jerry O’Leary. The duo, known as Scanlin and O’Leary, have three albums to their credit. Scanlin & O’Leary cover mainly Irish music together but they also enjoy performing Dixieland Jazz and American Folk ballads of the 1960s. Last Summer, Jim and Jerry performed on stage with the Kingston Trio at a music festival in Scottsdale, AZ. Jim is looking forward to going back again this Summer.

Jim began playing the Banjo in college after hearing a performance on TV: “The initial interest was back when the Glen Campbell show used to be on. There was a Banjo player named John Hartford who wrote the song, “Gentle On My Mind.’” Jim says. “That song really inspired me to play banjo.
